Postmaster General Testifies on Reforming the U.S. Postal Service

U.S. Postmaster General David Steiner testified on improving the Postal Service’s business operations before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee. He was grilled by Democratic senators regarding a proposal that would require states to provide information about voters receiving mail-in ballots for federal elections. Under the proposed rule, the USPS would not deliver mail-in ballots in states that didn’t provide this data. Steiner also testified that the Postal Services was “out of cash” and was borrowing money from retirement plans to fund current operations
