A Temporary Detour for Ruralinfo.net – A personal life update

Rural Carrier family,

I want to share something personal with you. I have recently been diagnosed with oral cancer. I will be having surgery Monday March 2nd, 2026 and I will be in the hospital for a week or more.Β  I will have part of my jaw removed and a few other things I won’t go into here.

Because of this, I won’t be able to continue to keep you updated with the latest rural carrier news for a while. My last post for a bit will be my upcoming Rural Carrier Monthly Newsletter that I will post this weekend.

The site will remain up, and I hope you’ll continue to visit, share, and support each other. This community has always been more than just content. It’s been a family.

This website and this community mean a great deal to me. Your support, comments, and shared stories have always been fuel for the work I do here. Right now, my energy needs to be directed toward my health, but this is not goodbye. It is simply a pause. Hopefully I won’t be gone too long but life is unpredictable.

Stay safe out there, and take care of yourselves.

We will be praying bud! If its ok to ask, did you chew tobacco? I have dipped for probably 20 years. Thinking about quitting! Good luck!!

Thank you.. No dipping. This all stems from a rare autoimmune disease called Oral Lichen Planus. Ive had it since 2016 and have been managing it well up until now. OLP always has a small chance to develop into squamous cell cancer and it picked me.
