USPS employee suspected of killing coworker shoots self in Seattle after police pursuit

Following a swift investigation into the deadly shooting of a United States Postal Service worker Tuesday in Tukwila, authorities say the suspect – another USPS employee – has shot and killed himself.

Officers responded to the shooting report just before 4 p.m. at the USPS distribution center located in the 10700 block of 27th Avenue South on Mar. 5., where they found a postal worker who had been shot.

Truck driver Ninie Caliste, who was present at the scene, recounted the chaotic moments to KOMO News.

“I pulled up at approximately 4 o’clock and all I heard was shots ring,” said Caliste. “The next thing you know I see people running out the warehouse and (I thought) they must be shooting so I take off. I asked one of the guys what happened, and he said, ‘Somebody got shot in there!’”

Despite efforts to render aid to the victim, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

“It’s just crazy that somebody went postal today. I don’t know the particulars but I’m waiting to go back and get back to work,” Caliste added.
