Granbury, TX, Rural Carrier Winter Rexroat was delivering mail when she noticed a woman lying in the road.
The woman was unresponsive, so Rexroat called 911 and positioned her vehicle to shield her.
Rexroat stayed with the woman until paramedics arrived and treated her.
The local fire chief, Stephen Boynton, later wrote to Postmaster Tamara Wade to thank Rexroat, whose name he failed to get at the scene.
“I believe your employee was instrumental in this situation having a positive outcome,” Boynton wrote, praising Rexroat for making the scene safe for the victim and the emergency responders.
“Thank you and job well done to your employee,” Boynton added.
