Rural Carrier Heroes: Pauline Kullik, Petoskey, MI; Rebecca Hibbert, Oswego, NY

In Petoskey, MI, Rural Carrier Associate Pauline Kullik got no answer when she knocked on a customer’s door to deliver Certified Mail. She looked through a window and saw the woman on the floor. When Kullik opened the unlocked door, the woman asked for help. Finding her cold to the touch, Kullik called 911. Emergency responders told her she likely saved the woman’s life.

Oswego, NY, Rural Carrier Rebecca Hibbert knew that a customer on her route was in poor health and lived alone, and she became concerned when the woman’s mail piled up over several days. Hibbert contacted local authorities, who checked on the woman and discovered that she was trapped underneath a piece of furniture.

“I would like to commend Becky for her deep concern and committed attentiveness to her customer,” Oswego Postmaster Darle Smith said.
