East Amherst, NY, Rural Carrier Gloria Geist recently took a call from a woman who asked her to check on the woman’s mother, who had just fallen and broken her leg.
Geist went to the mother’s home, found her and immediately called 911. She also got the woman a blanket and waited with her until emergency responders arrived.
Postmaster Rosemary McLennan said she wouldn’t have known about Geist’s actions if she hadn’t received a call from the daughter, who credited Geist with saving her mother’s life.
