Eddyville, KY, Rural Carrier Deanna Shugars was delivering mail recently when she spotted a woman lying on the ground. The woman had fallen while feeding her cats and had been immobile for about six-and-a-half hours.
The woman was suffering from hypothermia and experiencing pain in both her neck and hip.
Shugars called 911 and retrieved blankets from the house to keep the customer warm. Shugars stayed with her until paramedics arrived.
Doctors kept the woman overnight in a hospital for observation. She has since recovered.
The woman’s family later expressed appreciation to Shugars.
