Shortsville, NY, Rural Carrier David Zimmerman became concerned when he noticed one of his customers hadn’t collected his mail in several days, so he knocked on the man’s door. There was no response, but Zimmerman could hear the man’s dogs barking. Sensing something was wrong, Zimmerman contacted his Postmaster, who called 911. Emergency responders entered the house and discovered the man had died. His dogs were taken to a shelter and later adopted.
