Rural Carrier Hero: Corey Shaw, Vacaville, CA

No one heard a 90-year-old woman’s cries for help until Vacaville, CA, Rural Carrier Corey Shaw delivered her mail and got her the assistance she needed after a recent fall.

Shaw called 911 and contacted a neighbor, staying on the scene until emergency responders could enter the home and take the woman to a hospital.

She had injured her head and her feet had turned black during the two days she was stranded alone after the fall, a neighbor told The Reporter, a local newspaper.

Doctors said the woman “wouldn’t have made it” if she had gone untreated much longer, the neighbor added.
