Barger, a California lawyer, was recently nominated to the Postal Service Board of Governors to fill the remainder of the term ending on December 8, 2021 if confirmed by the Senate.
There are only two officials currently confirmed to the board out of a possible total of nine. In a March 12 hearing conducted by the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) expressed his concern that only two members had been confirmed. He said he’d like to see at least five to act as a tie breaker for voting.
