DOBBINS HEIGHTS — A local postal worker died following a crash over the weekend, according to the N.C. State Highway Patrol.
Troopers say the wreck happened around 2:15 p.m. Sunday, March 2 when the postal worker, who was traveling south on Channie McManus Drive failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection with Perry Avenue and a westbound Chrysler collided with the postal vehicle.
The driver, who died at the scene, was ejected when the postal vehicle overturned as a result of the collision, according to troopers. The driver of the Chrysler was not injured.
Troopers declined to release the name of the postal worker on Thursday.
Residents along the street posted cards on their mailboxes for other postal workers reading: “We are so sorry for the loss of your co-worker;” “We wish you peace at this time of sorrow;” and “Find comfort in the love that surrounds you during this difficult time.”
