Bleeding customer gets critical aid from rural carrier

Rural Carrier Anthony Alexander was recently making deliveries in Hayden, AL, when he encountered a customer in distress.

The man had sliced an artery in his arm while working on a tractor outside his home, and he was struggling to get inside for help.

Alexander rushed to his aid and immediately called 911, at which point the customer lost consciousness.

The Postal Service employee applied pressure to the man’s artery until paramedics arrived and took over.

“The customer’s family believes he may not have survived without Anthony’s assistance,” said local Acting Post Office Operations Manager Bridget Hill. “This is a wonderful example of the caliber of people we have serving in our organization.”
